Love the funk. My favorite part is when you’re cracking up because his smelly fish memory of B.C. 🙂 He really does make it look effortless. Great lesson Jared. A big thumbs up.

I’ve often messed around with grooves and combinations, but not to an extent anything like this or applied a set of rules to them. It really gives the effect that there is a lot more going on than there actually is; especially when doing some of the linear patterns.

I really like the style of the music Jost plays. Nice funky grooves.

I think my favorite part otherwise was the question about playing too hard/loud. It’s something I’m often (usually) guilty of. Bottom line is practice, practice, practice! If you want to do it live, you have to practice the crap out of it so it becomes second nature. However, I still find that easier said than done.

This was a lot of fun to listen to.

My favorite part is the alternating ghost notes between the hi-hat and snare. Jost’s playing looks so effortless, but very effective.

I love how you maximize the use of one drum beat. I can see where it changes the groove but leaves you the confidence of that one beat that you have practiced and integrated into your muscle memory. You can even use the same groove to make a fill and remain calm and look like you know what you are doing. Love the whole concept !
