To Rx or Not to Rx – The Final Week of the 2015 CrossFit Games Open

The End Is Near.

For most of us, that is. For many of us the CrossFit Games Open is a chance to test our fitness levels against ourselves, to establish new benchmarks upon which our future athletic performance will be based. For elite athletes this is where things start to heat up. This is just the beginning of the season for the athletes who will compete to earn a place at the 2015 CrossFit Games in Carson, California.

Let’s Take A Trip Down Memory Lane, Shall We?

WORKOUT 15.1
Workout 15.1′ combination of toes-to-bar, deadlifts and snatches kicked off the Open and in the process destroyed our palms. I like to call this the kick-off of “rip season”

Workout 15.1 marked the beginning of "rip season" for our hands.

WORKOUT 15.2
Workout 15.2 brought us the joy of more ripped hands (hello, chest-to-bar pull-ups!) and overhead squats.

WORKOUT 15.3
Workout 15.3 was where things got serious and the Rx WOD started with muscle ups. Our post from last week talked about the great muscle-up divide between those who can, and those who can’t.

Here's me, fighting like hell for a muscle up. I'm just not there yet.

AND THEN CAME 15.4
This one was another creator of the great CrossFit divide – those who can do handstand pushups, and those who can’t. This workout provided a great challenge to both scaled and Rx athletes. Both workouts were burners!

SO WHAT’S IN STORE FOR 15.5?
Right now, it’s just Dave Castro and the masterminds at CrossFit who know. My predictions, and I love to put this in writing, are based on the process of elimination.

Historically the Open has had Snatches, Burpees, Thrusters, Pull-ups, Double Unders, Box Jumps, Deadlifts, Toes-to-bar, Muscle-ups, Wallballs, Jerks, Overhead Squats, Cleans, and Rowing.

“Thrusters, Burpees, Box Jumps and Rowing.
In some sort of evil combination.”

So my guess, based on elimination is that 15.5 will consist of some combination of Thrusters, Burpees, Box Jumps and Rowing. In some sort of evil combination. Perhaps a chipper, or an ascending ladder?

MAY THE WODS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR
Thanks for reading the blog these past few weeks! It’s been fun making predictions and showing success stories from RhinoFit clients. We can’t wait to hear more from you after 15.1
