You can now download an app right to your phone!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are some great free metronomes out there like<strong> Tempo Lite<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/metronome-tempo-lite\/id599833596\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">iOS<\/a> | <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.frozenape.tempolite&amp;hl=en_CA&amp;gl=US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Android<\/a>). Free DAWs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) is music production software you install on your computer. You can visualize, cut and edit audio files (among thousands of other features) and while many DAWs can cost you a good chunk of change, there are some free versions that offer decent capabilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are three free DAWs drummers can download:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.avid.com\/pro-tools\/intro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><strong>Pro Tools Intro<\/strong><\/a>: Pro Tools is the granddaddy of DAWs and arguably has one of the nicest interfaces, but it&#8217;s also the most expensive. The free version is limited, of course, but if you only need eight audio tracks, it has a ton of built-in sounds and plugins to get you started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.audacityteam.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><strong>Audacity<\/strong><\/a>: This free open-source DAW is great for beginners who are looking for a no-frills option. Free drum VSTs and samples<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Firstly, what&#8217;s a VST (Virtual Studio Technology)?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A VST is a plugin (or tool\/add-on) you can install within a DAW to help you produce music. In this case, we&#8217;re talking about VST instruments which &#8211; in the simplest terms possible &#8211; are basically audio files that generate instrument sounds. You can find VSTs of most instruments, but in this case we&#8217;re only referring to drum VSTs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can layer these sounds with real recorded drums, or you can use them when writing in MIDI and get a great-sounding drum track from scratch without ever having to sit down on the kit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A drummer might use a drum VST to augment their drum recording or to write demo tracks without needing a full drum recording setup. Paid options include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toontrack.com\/product\/superior-drummer-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Superior Drummer<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toontrack.com\/product\/ezdrummer-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">EZDrummer<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/stevenslatedrums.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Steven Slate Drums<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.getgooddrums.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">GetGood Drums<\/a> (from Matt Halpern\/Periphery) and <a href=\"https:\/\/drumforge.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DrumForge<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A quick Google search will turn up a ton of <a href=\"https:\/\/bedroomproducersblog.com\/2022\/01\/22\/drum-vst-plugins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">free drum VSTs<\/a>.
