About Derek:

Derek Roddy is an American drummer and snake breeder that has gained a reputation worldwide for his extreme metal playing. Derek is best known as the drummer for many influential metal bands including Hate Eternal, Nile, Malevolent Creation, Divine Empire, Council of the Fallen, and many more. In 2007, Derek started an instrumental band called Serpents Rise which immediately grabbed the attention of musicians around the globe.

Since his departure from Hate Eternal in 2006, he has become a featured drum clinician for several drum companies such as DW Drums, Meinl Cymbals, and Axis Percussion. Derek is also a widely sought after teacher having released many educational DVDs over the past several years.
